HTC Rhyme: An Expensive Droid

Like most other HTC devices, the Rhyme has a great build quality. At first glance, you can see that it is heavily inspired by the HTC Radar's design. The 3.7 inch S-LCD display on the phone is impressive-sharp details with good sunlight legibility, but it really can't compete with an amoled display that Samsung offers.

The Cheap Way To Android

Still using a Nokia phone? Get irritated when users of Android & Apple make fun of Symbian?

I don't say that Nokia phones are bad but there may be a better interface for you, that suites your preferences. Moreover, there is always a need to bring change or experience the change. After so many updates, Nokia phones still look the same. They are not able to bring any significant change to their UI.
So, if 'good camera' is not your most preferred feature, I would recommend you to give a try to other available OSs. If you think that the change will cost you much, the answer depends on the change.

Frequently Used But What They Mean?: Tech Jargons

They are frequently used, even by me but I always wonder what they mean?

Blog - Blog can be anything from an online diary to a news page which gets updated frequently. It can also be thought of as a website or a part of a website which is dynamic with regular entries for a particular topic.
Example- You are reading this on a blog.

Beta - You often read this words on various internet services like orkut which is still a beta version even after 7 years of launching. Beta is a version of any software or app which is still under developmental phase but is made available to users. This is done in order to find and repair any glitches or bugs that might be existing, so that once the final version is out it's as perfect as possible.

Forum - A bulletin board is more popularly known as a forum. It is an online discussion site where people can hold conversation in the form of posted messages. A single conversation is called a thread and can be replied to by as many people as wish to.

Google 'Plus' & 'Black Interface' & 'People Widget'

Google is really getting in news because of their changes (or improvements as they say).

Black Interface
Google updated their interface for not only homepage but also for search pages. Google turned navigation bar to black. The currently selected menu item turns white & bold and the others remains grey. Now, Google logo is smaller than before and includes two updated buttons for 'Google Search' and 'I'm Feeling Lucky', while the corporate links are moved to the bottom of the page.
Moreover on the search page, Google uses a new color scheme for the sidebar, adds gray-scale icons next to the specialized search engines, replaces the standard search button with a label-less blue button. The page URL is shown above the meta description with cached link.
Google's Black Interface
Google also says that new design is flexible so that it can be used in the desktop interface, the smartphone interface, the tablet interface and even the interface for smart TVs.
I think the previous white felt better......What do you think?

Nokia N9
It has no buttons (except for volume and camera). Rather than use a single ‘home’ key or a set of buttons like Google’s Android does, the N9 (which runs MeeGo, not Symbian) accomplishes navigation using swipe gestures. To complement the monobloc design, the N9 has a 3.9-inch AMOLED display — the display is placed right under the capacitive glass layer, which makes the touchscreen ‘float’ on the surface.

Guide To Next Gen BlackBerry Playbook

What's Good
Web Browsing
Adobe, the makers Flash have worked closely with RIM on the Playbook.Rendering of pages with Flash elements and even entire sites built with the popular software is far superior to what we've seen on Android tablets. The iPad of course doesn't do Flash, making the Playbook which comes with the 10.1 version of Flash Player, the best tablet for desktop-like web browsing.

It was stunning to see the built-in Need for Speed running at full tilt while the camera recorded video and download continued in the podcast app. What's more you can see all these things happen simultaneously in small windows as you scroll through the currently running programs/apps with a flick of the screen. The QNX operating system seems to be doing a fantastic job of getting the best out of the dual core 1GHz processor and the 1GB of RAM.

Does Sticky Keys Always Stick With You

Imagine you are playing a game on your pc suddenly your game minimizes and windows shows a notification which says that you have turned on the Sticky Keys by pressing SHIFT 5 times.
You click on cancel thinking that you've turned off the sticky keys and you continue playing your game but again after few minutes you receive the same message. Now you get a feeling(not all) "Hey!Not again, I already turned off the sticky keys, there must something wrong with the windows"'.

But then what is the problem?
The problem is that you don't need to turn off the sticky keys instead you have to disable its shortcut i.e 5 times Shift key.
→To disable its short-cut go to control panel >Accessibility Options >Click on the Settings button of sticky keys >Uncheck Use Shortcut >Click on ok and then on apply.  Now enjoy your game :-)

'Not So' Smart Features of Smart Phones

Here's what we hate about the so called smart phones of today.

Micro SIM Requirement:-
To work an iPhone 4,you will need to chop your existing cellular SIM card to fit the iPhone 4.The problem it raises is that there is no way you can go back to using another without facing a hassle.

Lack of Expandable Memory:-
16Gb or 32GB make a decision and stick with it.No expandable memory slot available.

Lack of Widgets:-
The iOS4 does not like widgets. While Android is merrily showing off it's widget capabilities.Apple decided the iPhone doesn't need it.

The Android platform has still not captured the imagination of game developers.Probably because of the non-standardised hardware, game developers find it difficult to make the games run on every phone. This is where iPhone has a definite advantage.

Bad Battery Life:-
The apps are to blame for this. They have a habit of being bullish when getting online updates.

Too many screen resolutions make it tough for app makers:-
Varied screen resolutions for different devices(add tablets to that variety) and the app developers have major task on their hands to make the apps look proper on every screen.

Everything's still the same:-
The interface on the latest N8 looks a lot like the older phones, which says a lot about the new OS.Not much has been done to make it slicker,or even look a bit different

Ovi store is sparse:-
Despite Nokia's best effort, the Ovi Store is far behind Apple's App Store and Android Market in terms of the sheer number and variety of apps available.

Feels Clunky with too many menu options:-
